St. Leo’s offers sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion, as well as Confirmation. The sacramental preparation is a two year process. Children are to be in religious education or faith formation classes one year prior to the year in which the sacrament is to be received. The Bishops of Florida have provided us with specific guidelines in the preparation of children who are home schooled or in Catholic schools. The first year of religious instruction may be done at home or in the Catholic school, but the final year of sacramental preparation must be done within the parish program.
The Religious Education Classes for Youth at St. Leo Catholic Church are scheduled on Sundays during the months of September through May. All Families who choose to participate in our Religious Education Program should be registered with St. Leo Church and provide copies of baptismal certificates for all registered students. A fee of $20 per child or $50 per family will be charged to cover the cost of books and materials. If you need financial assistance with this fee, please contact the parish office. Any questions, please call the Parish Office at 992-0901.
It has been the consistent practice of the Roman Catholic Church to administer the sacrament of Baptism to infants. Parents very naturally want to pass along their faith to their child and the values that flow from that faith; baptism marks the beginning of this faith life. Parents of a child to be baptized must be registered, active members of St. Leo Catholic Church. If you are not already registered, you may do so by contacting the Parish Office at 992-0901. We offer Baptismal Preparation classes in one to three sessions, as deemed necessary. We recommend that you contact us prior to the birth of your child, so that you have time to properly prepare for this very special event. Godparents are welcomed and encouraged to attend Baptism Preparation classes. The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated the first Sunday of the Month after the 11:30 AM Mass. If other arrangements are necessary, we will do our best to accommodate you.
